Please respond to this email if you have a question or comment for Lisa so we budget enough time for those who would like to chat with her directly.
This is a Heart and Soul book chat that benefits Feeding America. If you are able, please make a donation in support of the charity Lisa holds close. The donation link goes directly to Feeding America so you can take the tax benefit. Please reply if you were able to donate with the amount. It would be super if we could let Lisa know the collective total donated. No amount is too small.
Please arrive in Zoom a few minutes early. The “doors” will open at 7 ET and chat will formally start around 7:05. Once we get into the flow of conversation, it may be challenging to monitor the “door” for entry.
In other news, we’ve surpassed 10,000 miles in our collective walk around the world in #milesandminutes just-for-fun challenge. Do you think we can make it full circle by the end of the year?
Sending an extra squeeze in a virtual hug to all the parents and teachers, from grade school to graduate, as they head back to school, and to our West Coast members in the fire zones.

Lisa, I read Before we were yours last year. It was a book I could not put down. As a Clinical Social worker, I was touched deeply by hearing the hearts and words of children, who are our most precious resources, be subjected to verbal and physical Abuse. The cruel people in the Childrens Society were, I hope, punished, though I doubt they were knowing the laws of the land, were not written on behalf of children.
I was touched when parts of a family who were split up long ago discerned their relatives many years later and we’re reunited many years later. Still, nothing can undo the piercing injury of family separation suffered when they had no voice. Thanks for your writing.
