If you’ve been following along, you may have read about my seedling idea—the early, still-being-shaped vision of creating a community called The SAVOR Society (or Sisterhood… still very much a work in progress 🌱).
Before we grow the idea any further, I thought it might be helpful to take a step back and share the why behind the SAVOR Method, because it’s more than a catchy acronym.
It’s a framework I created to help women build a thriving body and mind in a way that’s realistic, compassionate, and adaptable to real life.
And there are two reasons SAVOR resonates so deeply with me.
First: SAVOR Is a Practical, Whole-Person Framework
Each letter in SAVOR represents an essential element that supports well-being. Think of it as a quick but powerful check-in, not to judge yourself, but to get curious.

S — Sustenance
What we eat and why we eat. Nutrition matters, but so do eating behaviors, patterns, and our relationship with food. It’s not just fuel; it’s habit, culture, and comfort.

A — Activity
How we move our bodies. Intentional exercise, yes, but also everyday movement. Walking. Stretching. Strength. Movement to nurture, not punishment.

V — Variables
This is where nuance lives: genetics, hormones, medical history, medications, life stage. All the behind-the-scenes factors that make your body your body. No comparison required.

O — Organization
A gentler word for stress management. Routines, boundaries, sleep, planning, and how much mental clutter you’re carrying around. (Spoiler: most of us are carrying too much.)

R — Refueling
The thriving-mind piece—positive psychology, joy, meaning, connection, and purpose. The things that refill your emotional and psychological tank so life doesn’t feel like a constant drain.
Together, these five elements offer a simple way to ask:
What’s working right now?
What feels depleted?
What do I want or need more of in this season?
“Thriving isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing what matters most for you, right now.”
Your Recipe Will Change and That’s the Point
One of my favorite things about SAVOR is its flexibility. Your “recipe” for a thriving life isn’t static; it shifts as your body, responsibilities, and priorities change.
In my own practice, I do a quarterly SAVOR check-in. Right now, A (Activity) prioritizes resistance training, and S (Sustenance) focuses on increasing protein intake to support muscle.
Six months from now? That balance may look different, and that’s not failure.
That’s responsiveness.
The Second Reason SAVOR Resonates: It’s Grounded in Science
Savoring is a validated concept in positive psychology. Different and complementary to mindfulness and gratitude, savoring is about intentionally noticing, extending, and deepening positive experiences—really letting the good land.
Not rushing past it.
Not minimizing it.
Not waiting for “bigger” moments to feel okay.
In real life, this matters because so many of us experience good moments—but barely register them. We move on too quickly or tell ourselves we’ll slow down later. Savoring helps the good actually nourish us, not just pass through.
The SAVOR Method supports a thriving body and mind—and savoring itself is a skill that helps us live a more thriving life.
Want to See How SAVOR Shows Up in Your Life?
I’ve created a free SAVOR reflection exercise to help you tune in to how each element is showing up, or not showing up, right now. It’s simple, insightful, and meant to spark clarity, not pressure.
Download the free SAVOR exercise and explore your own thriving recipe.
Because thriving isn’t about doing everything.
It’s about doing what matters most—for you, right now.
And if you’re feeling stuck or stretched thin, coaching can offer a steady place to sort through what matters most—together.
Think of this as an invitation to get curious, not to change anything yet, but to notice what’s supporting you and what might be asking for a little more care.
With warmth,
Julie
