In a recent workshop, I asked this. One brave soul said yes (her parents were not thrilled), but everyone else shook their heads.

👉 Here’s the kicker: Why do we treat our phones better than we treat ourselves?

We wouldn’t gamble with battery life, but we gamble with our own energy, mood, and health all the time:

Pushing through exhaustion

Skipping movement

$

Ignoring the little things that fuel us

And then we wonder why we’re stuck in survival mode.

 

The Science: Positivity as Fuel

Barbara Fredrickson’s Broaden-and-Build Theory explains why this matters.

  • Positive emotions (joy, gratitude, awe, connection) don’t just feel good.
  • They broaden perspective → new possibilities.
  • They build resources → resilience, creativity, stronger relationships.

Translation: positivity isn’t fluff. It’s fuel.

 

The Self-Check: SAVOR Framework

We used my SAVOR framework as a quick dashboard:

  • Sustenance – how you’re fueling with food
  • Activity – how you’re moving
  • Vitality – sleep, rest, recovery
  • Organization – environment, systems
  • Refueling – joy, connection, meaning

Ask yourself: Where are your lights blinking red?

 

The Shift: Small Charges Count

Just like plugging in your phone, even a tiny charge helps:

5 minutes of movement

One moment of savoring

A boundary well-kept

Knowledge is great—but action is the true power source.
