Coffee, Costumes and Conversation
Wow — I’m impressed at the insightful and thoughtful online discussion about the “book-to-screen” selections as we close out the round. Here’s a little of what our members had to say:
The Woman in the Window: “Anna’s inability to leave the house actually creates an acute sense of claustrophobia in us, the audience, and that is the tool Finn wields to build suspense. The more we (the audience) cannot go investigate, the more uncomfortable we become, and the more frantic we are for something (anything) to come to a head.” — J.J.
Nine Perfect Strangers: “Liane has a knack for getting our ‘soap box’ out; maybe we can look forward to a ‘solutions’ novel where all the characters stand up and ‘fight back’! Cool, that would be a bestseller, too.” — L.P.
The Nightingale: “This line — ‘If I have learned anything in this long life of mine, it is this: in love we find out who we want to be; in war we find out who we are.’ — is perfect for the times we are experiencing right now.” — M.C.
I’m excited to connect with you virtually as well. Please grab a cup of coffee, glass of wine, or other beverage of your choice and join us from your corner of the world to close out our spring round.
Bonus points for anyone who comes dressed as a character from one of our books!
Here are the times. Pick the one that’s best for you — or join us for all three.
