REVIEW: Glitz, Glamor, and Goodness
I’ll be honest, I choose to move and listen to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, not because of Reid’s success with Daisy Jones and the Six but because of the narrators. The Walking Book Club adores both Robin Miles and Julia Whelan.
We had the opportunity to host Robin Miles at one of our Heart and Soul Book Chats and hear how she prepares for various narration roles. It’s fascinating. If you’re interested, you can watch the replay on YouTube by googling Julie Kaminski and The Walking Book Club. It’s definitely worth the time if you’re an avid audiobook user. The multicast audiobook is completed by Alma Cuervo, who is also fabulous – definitely a five Sneaker audiobook for Quality of Narration.
The Overall Experience and Motivation to Move also receive high Sneaker Ratings. Even though I chose to move and listen because of the narrators, I thoroughly enjoyed the story as well. Reid does a fantastic job bringing the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood to life. The only regret is that I couldn’t google the paparazzi pictures of Evelyn. Reid also keeps us intrigued, thus motivated to move, on why Monique was selected to write Evelyn’s biography. You’ll be inspired to stay active right up to the end.
The listening and moving time can be sped up to 1.3 if you’re inclined to make The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo a 9 hour 20 minute listen.
