Audiobook Review: The Jaipur Trilogy – Eagerly Awaiting Book Three

I eagerly await the third audiobook in the trilogy because I’m fully invested in the characters and their stories! The Secret Keeper of Jaipur follows The Henna Artist twelve years later and shifts attention to Malik, Lakshmi’s young assistant. His journey takes us back to Jaipur and also revisits other characters from The Henna Artist.

We’re introduced to a new character in The Secret Keeper, Malik’s love interest, Nimmi.

I found myself quickly rooting for Nimmi, who resides in the Himalayan foothill village of Shimla, working with Lakshmi and Dr. Kumar.

The audiobook brings back Sneha Mathan’s perfect narration of Lakshmi and introduces the voice of Malik, Ariyan Kassam, and Deepa Samuel as Nimmi. Multicast narrated audiobooks always add an extra dimension that audiobook fans may enjoy.

What I love about this series of audiobooks is the curiosity it evokes. I wanted to know more about henna, cuisine, clothing, and geography. If these aspects pique your interest, we included them on our FaceBook page, The Walking Book Club, and Pinterest under “Alka Joshi.” You will find pictures of Shimla, the temples, Indian cuisine, and many other real-world references in the book and additional information to enhance the listener’s experience.

Beyond the vibrant characters and the cultural aspects, the storyline has mystery elements and a love-story angle.

Taken all together, it’s an excellent audiobook.

Beautifully written, quality narration, rich culture and history, and many intriguing storyline elements.

The book’s ending is an ideal setup for the third book, which catches us up with Lakshmi’s sister Radha – I can’t wait!
