REVIEW: Fast-Paced, “Page-Turning” Audiobook

Falling by T. J. Newman is a fast-paced audiobook but not for the faint of heart, especially if you’re a frequent flyer. However, if you’re looking for an action-entertainment audiobook to keep you motivated to move, Newman’s break-out novel is a great pick. The nuances of the job tap into her background as a flight attendant and give you engaging insight into the position, like the difference between passengers and souls.

You might remember the narrator, Steven Weber, for his role as Brian Hackett on the television series Wings, which aired from April 1990 to May 1997. However, Weber has close to forty audiobook titles under his belt as an audiobook narrator and is becoming one of The Walking Book Club’s favorite male voice actors. Thus, we give Falling almost five Sneakers for the Quality of Narration.

The listening and moving time for Falling is ideal for a weekend project. (The Walking Book Club has a friendly rule that you have to be moving to listen.) So if you need to weed the garden or have a house project that will take a couple of hours, this is a great pick. In addition, you can easily consider speeding up the narration, which cuts the listening and moves down to a little less than 6 hours, making it great for a weekend project.
