Cutting Teeth Audiobook Review: Engaging Dark Humor

I thoroughly enjoyed the dark humor descriptives of motherhood during the preschool years Baker writes with snappy accuracy.

Even though my preschool parenting days are in the rearview mirror, I giggled more than once at her relatable descriptions. The satirical humor with social commentary makes questioning how far a parent will go to protect their child interesting and engaging. If you are a fan of vampires story, all the better. However, for me, the hook was the nuances of parenting spread throughout the story and the thriller-mystery aspects.

We rate audiobooks by how motivated they keep you to move, as you have to be active while listening. Cutting Teeth is a five-sneaker “who-dun-it” with talented writing that kept me motivated.

Also, five-sneakers was the voice acting of the narrator, January Lavoy. She seamlessly altered her voice for all the characters, including the pre-schoolers. A slight lisp gave distinction to the Little Academy students that sounded natural and accurate.

The telltale sign of an excellent voice actor is when the listener has so engaged in the story that the narrator’s voice changes and adds dimension instead of taking away from the story. January does this brilliantly and has rapidly risen as a The Walking Book Club®️ favorite. If narration matters to you, seek out her other titles.

If you’re looking for an audiobook with witty writing, a dash of mystery, dark satire, that is entertaining, put Cutting Teeth on your list.
